The Beaches Around York, Maine

The stretch of beaches along southern Maine offer a variety things to do, from exciting surfing to romantic strolling. The towns of York, Ogunquit, and Wells all offer visitors beautiful, thrilling beaches that also feature a number of services like lifeguards and comfort stations.
Long Sands Beach. Surfing is a popular sport in Maine, especially at York's Long Sands Beach. This long stretch of beach has a special area just for surfers. Metered parking is available along Route 1A for the entire length of beach. Restrooms are available at the Bathhouse near Oceanside Avenue, and lifeguards on duty from the end of June to Labor Day.

Short Sands Beach. This York, Maine, sandy beach boasts a gentle surf, onsite showers, changing area, and toilets. Metered parking is available in the parking lot off Route 1A. York shops and amusement are an easy walk and just adjacent to beach. Lifeguards are on duty at Short Sands Beach from the end of June to Labor Day.  [Top]

Drakes Island Beach offers toilet facilities, on-duty lifeguards, and limited car parking. Wells Beach is a wonderful, long sandy beach with toilet facilities and lifeguards.
